Position Overview

The Drug and Alcohol Support Worker plays a critical role in delivering addiction support services tailored to the unique needs of the LFN community. This position is essential in providing one-on-one sessions, developing treatment plans, and facilitating workshops that enhance knowledge and skills related to addiction recovery. The worker will focus on promoting healing through both cultural practices and modern therapeutic methods.

The successful candidate will engage with individuals and families, offering guidance and support throughout various stages of their healing process, while maintaining a strong emphasis on cultural sensitivity and community involvement.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for the Drug and Alcohol Support Worker position will demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting individuals and families affected by addiction. We seek a compassionate professional who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or relevant experience in addictions, mental health, or social services.
  • Understanding of intergenerational trauma, family violence, and First Nations health issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal, counseling, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Experience in workshop facilitation and case management.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Must pass a vulnerable sector criminal record check.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Familiarity with Nlaka’pamux culture and a willingness to learn.

The candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with community agencies, health teams, and support services, ensuring clients receive comprehensive care throughout their healing journey.
